Some of my very first products were black-and-white postcards. Drawing outlines has always been my safe space. I love clean lines, clear shapes, and the calm focus that comes with them. That’s how the idea for color-in postcards was born.
After a while, though, I felt a bit sobered. Not everyone seemed excited about coloring the cards themselves. I was often asked whether they were also available in color, and many people admitted they simply didn’t have the patience to color them in. I’ll be honest: that made me a little sad at first. But it also made me stop and ask myself an important question: did I ever color them in myself? The answer was no.
Coloring has always been something that makes me overthink. Whenever I work with color, I usually do it digitally, where I can undo every stroke and adjust endlessly. Working with analog color felt intimidating. So instead of avoiding it, I decided to turn it into an exercise.
That’s how Original Series I came to life. Using only colored pencils and a dry technique, I colored all 11 available themes by hand. Each card exists only once and is truly unique. I spent around three to four hours on every single postcard, slowly building up rich details and textures. And to my own surprise: it’s actually fun. I genuinely enjoyed the process so much so that I even added a custom stamp to the back of each card. It was my space to learn, slow down, and let go of perfection one card at a time.
